Lauren and Justin I Watermark Marina Wedding | Wilmington NC
For couple Lauren and Justin, spending their lives together was something they both WANTED
for as long as they can remember! These two met in high school and knew from the start that
they were destined to be with each other. So when Justin popped the question, in front of the
whale sharks at the Atlanta Aquarium, it was a simple resounding “yes!” from Lauren.
Planning the Big Day
These two began planning their perfect North Carolina wedding before COVID put a damper on
their plans. Initially the pair found their perfect venue at Fort Fisher’s historic site. The outdoor
ceremony was going to take place at this beautiful site situated amongst the trees with the
reception at the Fort Fisher Aquarium (a little nod to Justin’s proposal at the Atlanta Aquarium!).
But then COVID happened and this couple had to put planning, and their wedding, on hold.
As 2020 wore on, and slowly things began to improve, Lauren was able to start planning her
dream wedding again. Unfortunately, a small hick-up occurred in their planning process, and
the couple had to change venues due to COVID restrictions and the venue no longer being able
to accommodate their 100 person guest list. However; out of this set back, came a blessing and
Lauren and Justin stumbled upon the most gorgeous, hidden gem in Wilmington.
The Venue
The Watermark Marina is truly a tucked away hidden gem in Wilmington. Located on the
historic Cape Fear River, the marina is situated on 20 beautiful acres and boasts an impressive
480-foot pier that creates the perfect backdrop for some stunning photos. The best part of this
venue is that it is slightly off the beaten path, secluded away from roads and other businesses,
which created the feeling that this wedding was a private, intimate event meant only for those
who were invited.
The Big Day
When Lauren and Justin’s wedding day finally arrived, I can’t tell you how excited I was! These
two had waited over a year to get married and throughout the ups and downs of COVID
planning, Lauren was always the sweetest. So needless to say, I looked forward to my 4-hour
drive to see them! The wait was finally over!
One thing was evident when I arrived at the marina, Lauren radiated kindness, joy, and love.
She truly has a kind heart and exudes that kindness to all who are around her. You can sense
how much her friends and family mean to her. The love she has for them is seen clearly in her
eyes and smile as she interacts with them. It was truly an honor to be a part of these special
moments with Lauren, her friends, and family.
The Couple
Lauren’s kindness and love didn’t just end with her girls and mom. It was also visible when she
was with Justin. Actually, the love, respect, and adoration was mutual between both the bride
and groom. The way they looked at each other, the way they spoke to each other showed that
the love they have for each other runs deep. And even after all these years together, they still
are crazy in-love with each other. To Lauren and Justin, I was honored to capture your wedding
and I wish you two many years of life, love, and happiness together!
